Despite the June Gloom, summer is on the way! You can always tell when it's that time of year: graduations abound, the smell of barbecue on your afternoon bike ride, chlorine scents lingering in your hair into the night, and staying up till sunlight cracks open the sky with just a bit of hazy grey that sobers you up just enough for you to stop and realize that you've had a great night and should probably drink some water before you take your morning nap and start your lazy day.

It took me a while to get to this so hopefully there are still a few out there who will find this to be new! Pocketknife has rolled out an awesome new remix of Adele's Hometown Glory, that was for Adele's camp but they rejected it and so of course, without going to waste, we all get it for free! I don't know why they would reject something like that but no matter to us I suppose. The track we got from Cousin Cole is an exteneded version so you get over 7 minutes of this remix.

Let's agree that the indie industry that was once a small little lonely Hershey Kiss size world; melting in the sun would catch no one's attention. It's incredible how in the past 5 years that has completely changed....more over, it continues to change. Is it the not-so musically diverse world of radio? Is it the lack of creativity or the mundane-ness of the same sound of crappiness on the Top 40 charts? (Oh no he didn't!) Yes I did; I think one of the reasons why 1000s of these music blogs even exist and are successful in hits shows their necessity to meet demand for something 'different'. Of all honesty, when we get right down to it, these bands owe a lot of it to the internet. Yes these guys have incredible talents and make happy fun but just like the radio dominated days, talent doesn't necessarily mean anything. Without the powers of social networking...who knows where we'd be.
Okay enough of that, you guys can study social trends later, but feel free to e-mail me to keep the dialogue going! Let's get down to the crazy hotness of MGMT! Duper props to DJ STV SLV and ABX for all their rad mash-ups. These guys have been poppin' up all over with their really crazy popular r&b/hiphop indie music mashes. Dr. Dre and Fujiya & Miyagi? Montell Jordan & Arcade Fire? R. Kelly and Jens Lekman? Who woulda thunk? Amplive Hit With Cease & Desist!
Bay Area Producer, Amplive received some baddy news from the Radiohead camp. No remixes in January. The "heads" for Radiohead has hit'em with a Cease and Desist letter for the almost released In Rainbowz remixes. We are super disappointed but definitely not losing hope. Hopefully hearts will be turned and this album can be spread across the land! These remixes include verses from Charli 2na of J5, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, MC Zumbi and the soul of Codany Holiday! We got the info a while ago but we're laggin'! DJ Amplive has reworked, re this and re that the new Radiohead In Rainbows album. The result, RainyDayz Remixes, a special 8-song remixed extravaganza that displays Amp's respect to Radiohead with his textual-ear-brain coordination. To take another band's already awesome album, remix it for a double pile on, and then still give the credit and props right back to Radiohead shows deep appreciation. Oregon native Jona Bechtolt is one seriously productive guy. He's making music, videos, running Urban Honking/ The Ultimate blogger, remixing, and seems to be involved with so many different projects. Let's quickly catch up with one of those projects. This is the 1st release in over two years from Yacht which contains lots of people he has been involved with over the years. Our Friends In Hell is out on States Rights Records and it contains remixes from people like the Blow, Mirah and Architecture in Helsinki. Jona has taken these songs and transformed them into heavy electro-synthy compositions. Our Canadian friends over at Non-Existent Recordings have recently released Mojib's debut album, Whimsical Lifestyle. Swedish native, Mojib is a producer/mixer of sorts who has delicately combined pop melodies with different drum elements and synth sounds everywhere. Some of the loops provide for some awesome hiphop/ downtempo vibes with airy vocals over faint piano keys. It's a wide array of musical influences coming from all over and I dig the experimenting. Mojib, in the past, has done remixes of several bands and songs which initially caught my attention.
