Patrick Davy's Joke
Tuesday, May 19, 2009
We found out about
Patrick Davy from a super fan named Leo. I want to share his music vid for
Joke. His voice reminds me of the good rock music from the 90's. In fact he reminded right away of the singer from the New Radicals. Why? I don't know why, it just reminded me of it. If I'm way off, then oh crappy poo. Patrick Davy, you owe Leo, he's like your number 1 fan. True true.

The Sweet Serenades from Sweden!
Monday, December 08, 2008

Hey it's Monday! We got another dope duo from Sweden called
The Sweet Serenade, and judging by the band name you could almost guess it's gonna be some sweet pop! It definitely is. Their first EP rolled out in 2007 and now we're super excited about their new album
Balcony Cigarettes to drop soon. We got the first single from that album called Mona Lee with lots of "woos" in it. I dig. And check out the sweet video below!

Matisyahu's Shattered EP! Out Now!
Tuesday, October 21, 2008

I became a huge fan of
Matisyahu after seeing him and his steez in his
Youth video near 3 years ago. From there he'd quickly become huge in the Reggae and pop scenes. I've been waiting for something to drop from Matis and it couldn't have come at a better time. After watching
Call+Response which featured lots of amazing artists, I'd say it's easy to get excited about this
Shattered EP that just dropped today, as well as his forthcoming album,
Light, due out hopefully early 2009. With all the dope collaborations all over these tracks, you have to
get it! Check out a track from the new EP. It's incredible.

Rocket Summer, He can do it all!
Thursday, September 25, 2008

Bryce Avary of The Rocket Summer is a power pop maestro that records most all of the instruments on his albums. Bass, Drums, Lead and Backup Guitars, Piano, Organ and Harmonica can be attributed to Bryce Avary of the The Rocket Summer. He brings energy, creativity and positive lyrics to a pop rock genre that for the most part, can be very bland. His junior album, Do You Feel was released last July, but he just made his rounds to the LA area with his headlining tour a few weeks ago.
Do You Feel is definitely the most complete of his three full lengths. Compared to the previous two albums you sense a progression in vocal tones and lyrical songwriting and less skipable tracks. Check out some of the tracks from his record below and an old favorite.

Rio's Binario Releasin' Binario!
Friday, September 19, 2008

I'm not saying Brazil doesn't have rock, but not much of it hits through these borders, perhaps seeking out could be a good thing. Rio de Janeiro's 7-piece rockadelic jazzy electronic instrumentalists, Binario, make a
good case. The interesting here is that they remind me of a Brazilian Red Hot Chili Peppers, what?! Yea I said it. Kind of a 90s, really chill alt-rock sound with a ton of groove and guitar shreds. Their self-titled debut drops November 10th via
Far Out Recordings but we're givin' you a fairly early taste. Check out these two tracks and then hit that
myspace shisha.

Thrice @ House Of Blues!
Monday, June 02, 2008

With the fresh release of
Air and Earth, the last two installments of their self-produced four part concept album The Alchemy Index,
Thrice has been on tour awing crowds with their insane artistic diversity. The project began to materialize around a year ago with the idea of creating songs that capture earth’s four elements. Their ability to effortlessly transition from the wide open, soothing sounds Air, and the dark electronic sounds of Water, to the heart scorching sounds of Fire, to the folkie, raw feel of Earth was enough to reshape my thoughts about this four piece band from Orange County in about one hour. Their recent tour ended with 4 southern California shows, one of which they recorded for a live dvd for release sometime in the near future. Check out the new album as well as studio/tour blogs

Locust Avenue's Three O'Clock Target!
Wednesday, May 28, 2008

In the small town of Norman, OK, we've got a former Kinks tribute band, which would later amount to a 3rd full length release called
3 O'clock Target, a reference to the victims of after-school bullies. Haha I'm lovin' that.
Locust Avenue brings you some rad American Rock. I hear the older sounds of the Who and the Kinks heavily influencing this band. Definitely check them out with some free tracks below from their new album via
Martime Fist Glee Club. Also catch them
playing with the Ethereals at the Red Room in Norman.

Duran Duran, Duran Duran, Duran Duran!
Friday, May 02, 2008

One of the most hugemungous bands in the world is rollin' out yet another album,
Red Carpet Massacre, their 12th studio ablum (I think).
Duran Duran, in support of their brand new album will be touring in the month of May at of course some of the hugest venues in the U.S. The English rockers are comin' back strong and although I thought they wouldn't be doin' it with the same caliber, I blog corrected. We got the single for you so you'll know what I'm talkin' about! I can't believe they collaborated with Timberlake and Timbaland for this album. Who wudda thunk? That's just crazy!

We Were The States Debut!
Thursday, February 21, 2008

Murfreesboro's Jay and Justin were co-workers at a restaurant when they began to form what would become
We Were The States! In 2007, The Tennessee 5-piece signed up with Austin's
Chicken Ranch Records and began recording their full-length debut. The Result: Believe The Thieves will be droppin' in March and it's completely packed with a nice slab of chaotic indie rock reminiscing the early sonicisms of the Strokes, Jet, and sometimes Killers-ish. Community yelling and drum banging, Definitely dig'em.

OK OK OK OK OK OK OK! It's The Bombhappies!
Friday, December 14, 2007

This 5 piece is a direct continuity of Sweden's awesome music scene, but these guys have actually been around for a while. Read
all about it
here.
The Bombhappies have recently released Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok off of the
Garden Recordings label and it's nothing short of a rad album! These guys are definitely indie but don't let that fool you; they keep the rock comin' heavy! It's a more mature sound then your typical pop. They display a well balanced mix of the rock I liked in the 90s and the faster indie I dig now. You'll know exactly what I mean. You can get that album
here.

Wednesday, December 12, 2007
Tigercity will make you move. It's something that can't be explained. They have a very groovable sound that uses a combination of poppy disco-esque guitar shards, and 80's dance beats that you can't resist. They've been influenced by artists like Prince, The Cars and Hall & Oates. Buy their EP, "
Pretend Not To Love", on itunes if you haven't already & catch them this Thursday, December 13th, 8pm at the
ECHOplex for free! RSVP ASAP space is limited. They will be playing with

Music Bedlam From We Versus The Shark
Saturday, November 17, 2007

Hope Everyone is having a relaxin' weekend, but if not I got some music for you that might help you out with your stress.
We Versus The Shark just came out with a new EP called
EP of Bees which is a small handful of radness to follow up the
Ruin Everything! debut album. When I heard "This Graceful Planet" of that album I was totally hooked to their crazy shredding, switching to angryesque vocals, breakdowns and Samantha Paulsen's yelling in the backgrounds. The new EP also includes
We Wanted A New Government Not Odd Times Signatures, a DVD featuring live show footage and the making of Ruin Everything. Get these songs now!

The Manchester Orchestra
Thursday, November 01, 2007

I was at the
troubadour last week and I remember seeing a poster on the wall that caught my attention. It was yellow and it had randomly placed bicycles on
it. The poster made me smile and I admired its simplicity. I later realized that it was a poster for the Annuals and the Manchester Orchestra fall tour. They will be on
tour together until the end of November!
The Manchester Orchestra currently has 2 albums out, released through
Favorite Gentleman Recordings. They have an alternative, indie sound; melodic riffs, standard rock drumming, and vocals similar to Michael Shepard (Lovedrug). It's a little bit slower, softer; a change. Like autumn. If you're into that, then give the manchester orchestra a listen. If not, then nows your chance! Here are a few tracks:

Tyrone the Man!
Thursday, October 18, 2007

Now here is man that can sing and play the guitar. I have been hearing about his guy for about 6 years now and it was only recently that I got to sit down and seriously listen to his work. I must say, I am really impressed. His style is more on the range with Folk,Funk, or Rock genre. With his unique vocals and musical style, most people like Mr.
Tyrone Wells. Tyrone recently singed on with
Universal Records, so best of luck to him. His music will also be used in the up coming movie "
Rails and Ties." Look out for that, as well.
These are from his newest work, "
Hold On." Enjoy people.
Sea Breeze-Tyrone has performed this song for a long time now. Great Classic in the Tyrone books.
Baby Don't You Change- Different style from Sea Breeze, but still has the same great feel of Tyrone Wells.
What Are We Fighting For?- His new single. Great music and great message.
And go out and enjoy his shows. His live performances are EVEN better!! Catch some of his live stuff on
YouTube. And if you want to go to his shows, here are the
dates.
