NOSAJ THING's DRIFT LP!
Monday, May 11, 2009

L.A.-based producer
Nosaj Thing (Jason Chung) is rollin' out on a new tour supporting his upcoming album
Drift. I'm sure y'all have heard a remix from him at some point. His new album is coming at you next month and it's filled with a new dose of Jason's ambient twists of electronic experiments and beat noise environments. The super subtle single
Quest, sounds a little bit like Ratata's last album in parts. Expect a lot of dope stuff from this young man in years to come and be sure to catch him on some dates!

Abigail's Sichuan Earthquake Benefit Album!
Friday, May 08, 2009

I love when artists make music for things beyond the norm. Recently
Abigail Washburn has teamed up with her friend and DJ/producer Dave Liang of the
Shanghai Restoration Project. As many of you know last year there was a huge earthquake in Sichuan China where near 5 million people were left without homes, many deaths and injuries. Abigail and Dave took a trip to the ruined communities and began recording the sounds around them. They took those sounds and combined them with Chinese folks songs sung by some of the relocated children and then added their own beats and instruments. To honor the 1 year annivesary, Abigail has released an album called
Afterquake in cooperation with
Sichuan Quake Relief.
This is a truly a unique album in all it has to offer. Abigail and Dave have amazing talent with their electronic folk arrangements and I am especially moved that the album was inspired by Abigail's journey's to the schools where many of these children currently attend. The album has such a wide range of sounds, talents, instruments, and styles. My favorite track is
Sala. Learn how you can
help and contribute. Percentage of proceeds will go to relief efforts!

Let There Be Joy Joy Joy Jones!
Thursday, May 07, 2009
One of the dopest tracks I've received all year is definitely
The Joy by
Joy Jones. Imagine some gospel feel, throw on some dope afro-beats, subtle soulful organ tones, with a helping of Jazz and you'll get maybe half of this song. London based Joy Jones is going to drop
Godchild in June (which is way too long to wait!). You can probably put that album on replay for your Summer and Fall to say the least. It's going to be amazing and the music she's worked so hard on brings me hope in a place where music has turned into junk! It's gonna take you to another level. Check out
Beautiful on her myspace...it's soo good.
In her own words, here's an excellent description of what you can expect: "...
This is a labor of love and I hope that it translates and transforms into a tool for change. This journey to LP has largely been due to divine choreography, fabulous blessings and good folks. I am constantly amazed at the trajectory."

Introducing Lal Meri
Thursday, February 12, 2009
If you split up Lal Meri into Nancy Kaye, Ireesh Lal, and Carmen Rizzo, you get 3 different artists with a range of styles that don't really need proper introductions. There talent has been combined to make a fantastic new electronic pop group with lots of promise. Their self-titled debut album drops next week and comes highly recommended for those of you who dig loungey pop, good synthy vibes and beats. It's a hint of Zero 7, positivity, Brazilian girls etc. You gotta pre-order this album here. We got their free single and video below! My guess is that is Satnam Ramgotra on the Tabla behind Nancy on the video. So Dope.

Home & Garden's Domesticated
Sunday, January 25, 2009

Tim Kvasnosky & Tim Shumaker met at the Sam Ash music store in Manhattan with Tim S. as the sales guy and Tim K as a talented musician looking to purchase some new Korg paraphernalia. That fateful meet would result in the duo joining forces as
Home & Garden. Their new album,
Domesticated, is a buncha new dope tracks with help from their friends like Jennifer Karr, Om Recs Labelmate Colette, Lucy Woodward and Lisa Shaw. You get some R&B, Clubby Dance hits, and really laid back tracks like Sunday Morning. There's nothing like rocking records with friends, and this new album is just another testament to Home & Garden's dedication to dope music making. Check out the track below and pick up the album

Tra La La Blip is Back with Martin Luther King

Our man Randolf has just given us dropped us a line about some new tracks from
Tra La La Blip! This time around the music comes from a community center in Pawling, New York. As always it's fun and light hearted with when you imagine the wonderful individuals making the music, you can't help but think it's cute! The group's name is
Annie & the Overlookers with Annie Galmore on the mic with the coveted and insatiable Kaossilator! Others contribute drum machines and synths to this special track titled Martin Luther King. I love it when Annie sings "We are gonna boogie, down, we are gonna boogie down tonight!" Chcek out more Tra La La Blip stuff

Happy Birthday Dear Royksopp!
Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Royksopp, Norway's duo Svein Berge & Torbjørn Brundtland, have recently celebrated their birthday and of course created a brand new track just for that reason. I guess this technically makes then 10 years old so I'd say it's an appropriate milestone to celebrate. The track "Happy Birthday" has been getting more play than a bad rapper thanks to the BBC, and Annie Mac over at Radio One...oh yea not to mention they are Royksopp. I guess the amount of streams just from the sight alone has totalled over 50,000! Yikes. THey've been rather quiet for a couple years but probably working on masterpiece genius soundwaves. Here's the track and one of my favorite music videos!

Tra La La Blip: An Amazing Artist Collective!
Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Recently, with the help of a special girl, we stumbled upon an artist collective in Australia called
Tra La La Blip. And it's in fact something very different. All the artists in this collective have some form of intellectual and or physical disability! All these loop based electronic recordings were created live during jam sessions at Multi Task Human Resource Foundation in Lismore New South Whales. Each individual contributed elements from midi controllers, Korg stuff, sound beam and a Macbook! Their current record is called
Soundbeam Sessions Volume 1 and it is only in a limited edition 100 copy print, however there is a new set coming! Go
here to grab the album! We got two songs for you thanks to Tra La La Blip. The first song is by MSG (Movers Soothers & Groovers, who are a group of artists 18 and 25. The second song is by Honey Dance, a group consisting of members aged 40-60. Yes it's that cool!

Happy Sunday and Labor Day weeeekend! It's time for rest, or catching up on work, either way we are gonna bring you music to rock with. We got new stuff from Phoenix trio
Mr. Meeble, who has made a very interesting, groove filled experimental album. It's poppy enough to catch even the squarest of ears but it contains the right amount of darkness in it's soulful instrumentals. Track to track you really get something else and it's definitely not hard to make out. There debut has already dropped and you can order it

Give Us Some Love To Make Music To!
Thursday, July 31, 2008

LA's very own experimental electronic producer, Alfred Darlington aka
Daedelus has just dropped us a brand new album called
Love To Make Music To via Ninjatune. With a handful of releases, Daedelus is back with more unpredictable, groove heavy beats and samples. Some say it is chaos fluxed everywhere but at the same time it's brilliant and track to track you can't really sum it up. Each track progresses into something faster, sometimes clunkier, and basically a mini set if you will. There's a lot of dope tracks and one of my favs is
If We Should (yes typical me) which has Alfred's wife Laura on the mic. Just as I was thinking that they should make more together, they have an album coming out together called The Long Lost. If We Should is just a 4 minute tease of what's to come!

French Artist elodieO's Stubborn Debut!
Thursday, July 24, 2008

Where to begin? When I first heard
Wake Up Without You it began with a subtle, darker electronic sound but swiftly developed into a funkier disco beat.
ElodieO's soft haunting vocals over her own arranged and composed electronics creates an interesting experience of various complimenting moods and tempos throughout her new debut album.
Stubborn drops August 19th and features guesties like Aaron and Jesse of the Brazilian Girls and the Cure. Also her French lyrics over the down tempo is real rad. We'll be expecting some kind of tour from the French artist in the near future so be on the up and up

Houston's
My Milky Way Arms are currently touring in the East coast/South in support of their beautifully crafted and highly imaginative self-titled EP. I just listened to the entire thing and realized it would have been a way better soundtrack to last night's fireworks than the songs about how dope America is. Thursday, July 03, 2008

Okay okay I know you guys have already seen this, but I wanted to post it for our friends who need things to be compiled into one place. I think the Aussie, Nick Bertke aka
Pogo, is definitely onto something dope here with his electronic down tempoey ambient steez. His awesome sampling skills have amounted to the viral videos Alice and White Magic which seems to me like "sampling" from videos to the sounds as well. I read somewhere that 80+% of the sounds are actually from the Disney animated movies Alice in Wonderland and Sword In The Stone. Whatever it is, they are sure dope to watch. Watch these vids, and then download the songs to take with you!

Case Of The Mondays With James Pants
Monday, March 24, 2008

I like to think of
James Pants and his new album as a bit of a Cinderella story. He met
Stones Throw head
Peanut Butter Wolf at a rave after his high school prom. From there he would become a signed artist on the Stones Throw roster! James Pants makes a dope electro 80s soul, post funk sound. He doesn't just mix, sample, or spin, he's on the mic, on the keys, strummin' guitars, and hittin' the percussion. I also think there's this mix of ambient with hip hop that I totally dig. Portishead And Their Long Awaited Third
Thursday, March 13, 2008

After a long decade
Portishead is finally back and
ready to release their
Third album and I'm getting serious conflicting thoughts on it. Several tracks have a sound marshed around Beth Gibbons' eerie yet often soulful voice. The album as a whole sounds different than
Dummy and a natural maturity from their self-titled. This sort of realistic sound of drudgery and triphop is so Portishead and either way I think it's going to have a great reception/welcome back from their fans. Although they've been still making music, as Portishead they've been away too long. They seem to have a couple more faster beats reflecting a bit more electronic influence or the usage of.
Portishead will be headlining over at that big
Coachella Music Fest thing out there in the desert. The album's release date is lookin' to be around April 28th via Island. Be On The Look Out! We gots two tracks for you to check out. These are for demo purpose, please delete them and buy them album when it's out!

More of Russia's Futurists Kim & Buran!
Saturday, March 01, 2008

I am learning more about certain older school Soviet Russians and their
love & more than likely obsession for space and future. Russian Futurism comes to play and I think
Kim & Buran pull it off well with their names following heroes in a soviet Sci-fi cartoon. Their music is fully engulfed in a classy electronic lounge sound with very dream,y big band synthetics. These guys have been quiet lately as their latest album dropped over 2 years ago. Hopefully they are in their laboratories creating some new stuff for a forthcoming. As I'm listening to the album I am constantly reminded of how much their sound can range. Sometimes you get the accuracy of down tempo to an often hip spy scene gig. The Delicacies Of Alison Goldfrapp...
Tuesday, February 12, 2008

I've been waiting for a new album from UK's
Goldfrapp after all the rumors and sounds floating through the internet's infinite rivers of information...and finally February 25th will be the end of the wait. Seventh Tree,
Goldfrapp's 4th full-length, is droppin' with your not-so
traditional Goldfrappuccino; less is more. Alison brings up a good point, her voice. After listening to the album it's apparent that she's gone "warmer" on this album. Little bit less of the busy pop dance electronics that you'd expect and more swisher ambient, more downtempo-ey sound. Don't get me wrong, still got pop you can catch on to and love, but it's less on the dance floor and more on the break of dawn roadtrip. Something you can relax to. Dig it!

Case Of The Mondays With Fin's Husky Rescue!
Monday, February 11, 2008

Scandinavian music rules, I'm not sure what it is but these days (days being the past 3+ years up until now) the bands from Europe are popping out everywhere. My guess is it's the public's outcry for something better than the radio. It's based on less humans tuning into the airwaves, the rise of social networking and blogs, and of course the fact that really good music can come from anywhere and people are realizing it (
again). Are you feelin' me? Good. If you're currently into folk-indietronic, you're gonna dig Finland's 5 piece,
Husky Rescue.
I'm going to especially highlight their remix album,
Other World - Remixes & Rarities which is an awesome collection of mixes from bands like Bonobo and Tunng. It also features some rad acoustic sessions- all great stuff from their sophomore album
Ghost Is Not Real which dropped early last year. Check the tracks below. Also get a buncha free Husky Rescue songs

Weekend Edition w/ Morcheeba's Latest
Saturday, February 02, 2008

After hearing the entire album twice, I'd have to say the Godfrey's have completely poured out their emotions in their 6th album, revealing some heavy stuff throughout the band's rough recent years. The album willfully exemplifies a combination of a seemingly last leg effort, with nothing held back, and at the same time the usual
Morcheeba canvas, which is
unusual. With an overly appropriate album title, Dive Deep, achieves the often open collective of
expressed varied genres with several guest artists to justify them, perhaps give different meaning. Simply Theraputic, feelin' me?
Dive Deep will be released with exclusive digital content on iTunes on Monday. You can get the album in stores on the 19th. Check their myspace for more
music and tour dates to get the live experience, which is definitely someything else. This album is all about traditional, with non-traditional, and soulful electronic folk with some serious blues. Putting in hardwork to express pain sounds so sweet.

Microfilm Remixes Intelligent Dance Music!

The Windy City has a lot to offer these days including
Microfilm at the top of the list. Microfilm are Matt Keppel and Matthew Mercer (matt&matt lol)who have been making music since 2006. They already have received lots of acclaim for their debut
'After Dark' and continue to do so with their newest EP,
'Twilights' which features 4 remixes of the After Dark track! If you haven't already heard their stuff take a quick preview on their

Midnight Juggernauts...coming up from down under

I was a bit hesitant to open up to a band that sounded like a popular comic book character (do you all remember Juggernaut from the X-Men?). I first discovered
Midnight Juggernauts when I saw them open up for Justice back in October, and their show was impressive. Their stage presence was commanding, their electronic beats powerful - it is no wonder why Justice has chosen them as their favorite new band. Unfortunately their CD
Dystopia hasn't been released in the U.S., but until then, you can find their Road to Recovery EP on "that popular music site" for about two dollars.
Although their North American tour has come to an end, people living in their homeland of Australia still have an opportunity to check them out on their summer tour this December/January.

Case Of The Mondays With Shinichi Osawa!
Monday, December 03, 2007

Happy Monday! Sorry for the lack of updates, the BBQ headquarters have relocated and now we're back online! Today we bring you to the world of
Shinichi Osawa! As you can tell from the picture above, he's a DJ bringin' you the heavy dance and electro you love/crave. I love the sampling of vocals (i.e. Au Revoir Simone) on several of these synth driven tracks. If you're currently into the indie dance craze, Shinichi is the Japanese love child of Daft Punk, Digitalism, and Soulwax.
Mondo Grosso (Italian for "Big World") is his solo name as he does producing and mixing for lots of artists. Mondo's got your house, techno, underground club covered as we are
told he has the largest sellout DJ sets in Japan.
I have been raving about this game on PSP called

Oh Astro! The Champions of Wonder
Monday, November 19, 2007

I love couple bands! Making sweet music together!
Oh Astro is the married workings of Illinois hailers Jane Dowe and Hank Hofler. They rock a very playful experimental sound that contains highly danceable elements and strong synth pop with those electronic bass lines. There's glitch involved. Both of them started in the electronic music scene in the late 90s and they had a debut
Hello World. Their sophomore,
Champions Of Wonder, just recently dropped off of
Illegal Arts (Girl Talk, Wobbly) .
I was totally surprised and stoked when I heard that glitch hopper,
Yea Big collaborated on their first album and 3 tracks off their new album. Now you're guaranteed awesome bit sampled electronica with the ambient pop. Read more about their

Shugo Tokumaru's New Exit!!
Thursday, November 08, 2007

It's a new sub-genre! Toy Folk! Okay sort of, but I'm pretty sure someone already thought of that.
Shugo Tokumaru is another example of awesome Japanese folk pop that has been
popping up everywhere. He's got this synth pop sound with loads of wonderful melodies. You can distinctively hear toy instruments well arranged with electronic sounds, recorded overlays, and with Japanese verses that I completely do not understand! It's the appropriate happy song you've find in the funny or awkward scenes in films like Little Miss Sunshine or The Darjeeling Ltd.
Tokumaru was playing with Gellers but after two successful solo albums, solo isn't a bad route at all!
Exit came out late October in Japan and hasn't been released in the states yet but be hopeful for early 08'. You can pick up the album at the

Most Of The Remixes By 2 Many DJs!
Friday, November 02, 2007
2 Many DJs are at it again, and again, as Soulwax, and Flying Dewaele Brothers amongst other names. These guys from Belgium do alternative but these days it's their remixes. Under the alias 2 Many DJ's they've recently released
Most of the Remixes, a double CD of remixes and remixes of remixes--Re-remixes. wow. Earlier in the year we dropped one of the tracks on our BBQ mixes. There are artists like the Klaxons, LCD Soundsystem, Kylie Minogue, Daft Punk, Gorillaz and DJ Shadow to name a few.
The late 90s brit pop album makers continue to do their thing under "Soulwax" with their undeniable classic mash-ups and bootleg party essentials. We got some tracks for you of the over 2-hour dancie-tronic DJ set. The title of the collection is
101 words long, yea..crazy, we won't reveal it here. Just an excellent compilation of dancefloor knowhow.

Caribou's 2007 Tour CD
Wednesday, October 24, 2007

It's so crazy to me that Daniel V. Snaith is a Ph.D, not that smarties can't make music, but most musicians don't hold doctorates while trippin' on drugs and coming up with band names like "
Caribou" with Canadian roots living in London...yea that's right. The talent has remained the same, but the Manitoba almost get sued Caribou has progressed in sound, atleast since when I first heard "Start Breaking My Heart" in '01 under the Manitoba OG name. There's a special Caribou Tour CD being sold only at shows. It contains a mix that's over a half hour and includes 6 exclusive tracks! Luckily for you Caribou is touring, infact there's a show at the
Troubador this Friday for all you locals. Get the CD this weekend, in the meantime check out two of the tracks!

Canadia's The Russian Futurists!
Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Russian Futurism is a group of Russian artists and poets who follow the principles of the Italian and Idealogue futurist movement founder, Filippo Marinetti. I really have no idea if that has anything to do with Toronto's lo-fi indietronic group
Russian Futurists. Matthew Adam Hart is the artist behind the sound and only when on tour is he joined with his band of instrumentalists. He does the vocals as well but after listening to these tracks I am confused becaues there are harmonies and sounds like a small choir singing. I'm not sure if these are lots of layers piled on or if the album has lots of guest vocals. Either way this bit dosed twee-populous vibe is like a Polyphonic Spree with a more catchy electronic backdrop.
There have been 3 albums and a compilation called "
Me Myself & Rye...An Introduction to the Russian Futurists" which is a compilation of the first 3 albums. Very interesting. Check out these tracks from the comp and anticipate a new EP or Album hopefully soon.

JazzClub Presents Electric Jazz Lounge!
Wednesday, October 17, 2007

I love these various artist mixes of lounge music gone digital. If you're into electronic and jazz, then these are no brainers. This is just another great mix of lounge. Electric Jazz Lounge reminds us of some of the earlier
Mocha Nova Cafe mixes over at
Hellthy. Not super chilled, Lo-fi down tempo of gentle mellow beats of bigs like Courtney Pine and Nina Simone. This album comes out on Import on October 23rd, but you can pre-order
here. It's got some great rare and import stuffs. You gotta check it out!

People Press Play Bring Some Of That Indietronic!
Tuesday, October 16, 2007

I was browsing through the
Morr Music site as usual a couple months ago and read about
People Press Play. The first thing I noticed was that they are from Denmark which I give extra attention to because we have a good friend that lives there. He is also from the same city as PPP, Copenhagen. PPP is the collaborative work of solo artists Sara, Anders, Jesper, and Thomas, while actively working on their own projects.
The Self-titled Debut from PPP is fueled with electronics as they quickly reveal a synthetic blend of sometimes ambient sound and great pop loops. To describe what I'm hearing, I am going to coin a new phrase (maybe someone used it already), I call it "Analogue Dialogue" which is how Sara is using her voice. Sometimes you get these echo-ey vocals packed on songwriting and sometimes you get these sounds coming from her vocals that really aren't words, but just layers. It's as good as an instrument and visa versa. This electronic folkpop is straight thoroughly
delicate and there's nothing quick about it. Sit and take a listen to these songs and get the album
here.

RADIOHEAD IN RAINBOWS/ IN RAIN_BOWS IN/RAINBOWS
Thursday, October 11, 2007

If you haven't heard of Radiohead, this is your chance to get out from under that big rock. After the 3 years wait from Hail To The Chief in 04',
Radiohead bring out their self released 7th album,
IN RAINBOWS. Strangely, The EMI contract was fulfilled with the last album so not only is this album self released, but you can purchase/download the digital version of the album for your own price. YOU name your own price that you want to pay for the album. It's sort of an interesting twist, partly marketing, part experimental and totally 100% rad!
On the other hand for all you real Radioheads, the
Discbox version is a full on package including In Rainbows CD, the recording sessions bonus CD, Vinyl record of the album split onto two vinyls, and a hardcover book...now that's extreme supplement! That runs around $82 a pop! You can pre-order now and it will be shipping in early December. This album has all the familiar symptons of mass appeal, an almost continuation of OK Computer, and I feel like a little bit more of that keyboard/piano, maybe it's just me. Okay enough about it, here are some tracks! Go get the album now!!!
Also look out for a bangin' tour hopefully starting next year. They've already been playing these new songs these past couple years mainly in Europe, boo! non-american tours. JUST KIDDING! If I was a huge mega rockstar success I would also offer my downloads for donation style pricing Happy Listening!

HIDDEN DETOUR PARTIES w/ Ed Banger Recs & The Villians!!!
Sunday, October 07, 2007
I heard about the
Hidden Detour Party about two days before the event and I had absolutely no idea what to expect except that there would be lots of dancing. And I guess that's all we really needed to know! Boost Mobile & Fader put on 2 parties at these hidden locations in LA and the only way to go was to rsvp/text to get a text back of the address on the days of, raver status true. We went Friday night for the
Ed Banger crew.
Quick History: Pedro Winter a.k.a. Busy P runs
Ed Banger Recs since '02, it was part of Headbanger Entertainment. Most of the acts are French electro/house DJs and Artists including heavyweights
DaftPunk! Friday night was one of the best DJ live sets we have ever heard/seen/experienced. Some of the DJs included Kavinsky, So-Me, Justice, Mehdi and of course Busy P. We danced to mixes, remixes, mashups done way proper on the 1s and 2s of Feist, Beastie, some old school, lots of dance and house beats. You could definitely feel the anticipation from all the boiling point build-ups and follow-the-leader beat drops. LA brings the eclectic crowds out; clubbers to indierockers and Rec heads to some older folks (dance knows no age). I remember
Googling the location, street viewing, and realizing there wasn't really anything there other than some random/regular downtown warehouses. Turned out to be a
perfect spot.

These parties of course were lead-ups to Saturday's
L.A. Detour Festival which included Moving Units, The Ed Banger Crew, Teddybears etc. etc. I do say good show.

This past summer they released an awesome various artist compilation called "Music For Hairy Scary Monsters" which consists of previously unreleased and rare electro-pop tracks from Benni Hemm Hemm, The Go Find, Tarwater, ISAN, Múm and Seabear. Scott Herren's Back with Prefuse 73's Preparations!
Sunday, September 09, 2007

Barcelona based veteran producer,
Guillermo Scott Heren, has been working on everything for a long time, and now through
Warped Records, he's bringin' out Prefuse 73's next album,
Preparations. The album's single "Class Of 73 Bells" has already created tons of positive reviews for this upcoming album. For those of you who don't know, Prefuse 73 is one of the solo projects of Heren that has many elements and great combinations of jazz, down tempo, hip hop, dance, electronic, and glitch rock. Prefuse has collaborated with some of my favorites including Zero 7, MF DOOM, Beastie Boys and Kazumasa Hashimoto. Heren's incredible multi-instrumental talents and his thorough knowledge and appreciation for the electronics side has created yet another consistent album that boasts a complete mastering of sound.
Preparations drops October 23rd on Warped Records and it is highly recommended that you go pick up the physical album because in addition to the album, you'll also get "Ensembles" which is Heren rocking modern classicals self-composed with clarinets, cellos, pianos and the like. It's definitely going to be a great album. It gets better!! Heren is currently
touring and will be making stops all over the U.S. including the
Troubadour in LA on December 9th. You can go get that single now
here. Check out these tracks and make sure to pick up a copy on the 23rd!

Calvin Harris Creates Disco and Produces Stuff!
Wednesday, September 05, 2007

The U.S. release of "
I Created Disco" is finally here! The album was just released yesterday off the
Almost Gold Recordings (Peter Bjorn & John, etc.) and you can get it on
Amazon for 11 bucks! If you haven't heard by now,
Calvin Harris is the 23 year old hailing from Scotland who's responsible for creating dance chaos all over the U.K. and at this point probably all over the world with his super catchy synthy-rich electro-indie goodness. He's created quite the buzz here in the U.S. with tracks like "Merrymaking At My Place" and "Acceptable in the '80s" along with
music videos that set examples of what to do when listening to his new album.
Currently he is touring with the likes of a full band to back up the traveling party and he'll be showin' some love here in the states, well two states. He'll be creating a crazy dance party at the
Mercury Lounge in NYC on September 12th, and for all you westcoastin' Calvin will be at
The Echo in Echo Park, Los Angeles on Friday September 14th (Next Weekend!! Only $8) with a special
Club Underground Hang the DJs! It's gonna be a dance extravaganza!
If these aren't already in heavy rotation on your playlists, no worries, get'em now!

The Sweet Sorrows of Misha
Saturday, June 30, 2007

There's something about electro-pop that goes
great with summer, and pretty much all the other seasons. Whether you're just chill-beachin' some lazy days or busy at work, we found something everyone can enjoy!
Misha is the NYC indietronic efforts of Ashley Yao & John Chao, with their friends Nunu and Andrew. I find that a lot of experimental bands don't always cut it with the lyrics, but this pop duo's songs are filled with pain & sorrow and happiness. The new Album "Teardrop Sweetheart," which dropped last week on
Tomlab, is an awesome combination of songwriting and a wide array of sounds from song to song. It's fresh electric from the first track to the next. Put'em in your summer mixes now!

It is REALLY feelin' like Summer now!
Sunday, June 17, 2007

Oh the weather is nice and hot now. Chillin' at the beach yesterday was very nice. I had some
Egyptian food yesterday at a friend's Grad party. His family was there and it was the most Egyptians I've seen outside of Discovery Channel's special on
Cairo! We are working on a summer music podcast, or just mix. We've been listenin' to a lot of instrumentals and gettin' back to electronic. Whether you're in summer school, full timin', vacay, or straight bummin' it, here's a really good mix of hiphop, instrumentals, downbeat, bossa, indietronic, and acoustic.
Last night she was Live at the El Ray Theater bustin' some remixes and recent albums. She's one of the top Bossa Nova artists and needless to say is runs in the
family.
An older instrumental hiphop track off of Tony Simon's sophomore "Downtown Science" of the
Ninjatune label.
Sweet Indie-tronic from their 05' release "Datarock Datarock"...This Norwegian duo serves it up dancey.
June's
Spaceland residents playing free on Mondays! Check out this catchy electronic tune.
Off his upcoming "Finding Forever" album droppin' July 31st. Kanye produced this track.
An oldie, but totally awesome, I loved these guys in the 90s
This Tuesday, The Procession and Castledoor will be playing at Spaceland, I am totally digging both of these piano rockin' tracks.
She's done stuff with Elton, Sheryl Crow, and Rufus W. to name a few. Joan Wasser the violinist and sing-songwrite with her band.
Rock-hoppin sample infused straight out of the Chicago indieground.
Breakbeat downtempo grooves from 06's "Days to Come"
I think Los Campesinos means "Country folks" in Spanish. I love the girl/guy vocals from this U.K group. Makes everything so much fun. The awesome indiepopness is droppin' by the U.S. for a couple shows in August but none on the Westcoast =( pooey.
I really like this style of singing, reminds me of the "NEW" 70s chillrock.
One of my older favorite shoe-gazers! This song goes great to a backdrop of summer.
She reminds me of Tilly & the Wall, whom I dig. She also sings for
Cryptacize, they are awesome too.
Acoustic Live version of a great song
Last summer's "This Vital Chapter" from the Aussie indie poppers.
More shoegazey dream folk pop, with Goswell's vocals.
The couple duet have a new album as of April on the Merge label called " Night of the Furies" which is more dancier, more poppier, and subliminal.
First single from "Room on Fire"..it's the Oberserver single!
This guy used to be in hardcore bands...hard to imagine unless you've heard of him. This one is from "Walking Concert", another one of his projects.
Our new buddies at
Stones Throw Records sent us this awesome track from "Yesterday's Universe" which appears to be all Madlib produced with fictional
names/aliases. But from all the new hiphop he's producing, it's super awesome to hear stuff like this jazz drumbeat stuff.
Alright there you have it, 22 songs to start your week off right! Read the news! Lots of good stuff there. Eat more vegetables/fruits. Next week's post will include the health tips, remember those? Okay people comment and let me know you're alive, also what state you are from! Have a great week!!
