Finally She's back! After 3 long years, NY's
Laura Cantrell is back with a digital release of her new album
Trains and Boats and Planes due out mid-April! But that's not the only rad news; Laura recently had a child! Her new album is an awesome collection of covers that are themed on travel. I personally love travel songs, great for roadtrips...I love the open road (or more open than usual). Also Cantrell's got 3 of her own joints on this album as well. We got the
New Order cover off the new album and two previously released tracks!

If you haven't heard about
Bjorkestra, today's Case Of The Mondays is for you! Alto Saxophonist Travis Sullivan is the brains behind Bjorkestra and it's exactly what it sounds like; Bjork + Orchestra. Well Not exactly. Bjork isn't actually in New York's 18-piece orchestra but her songs definitely are. Bjorkestra has an extremely talented line-up including jazz vocalist Becca Stevens and they've even done projects with The Arcade Fire and Dr. Dre?! You can hear hints of electronics which adds well to their awesome experiments. They dropped a very special debut album called
Enjoy in early January last year via Koch and I highly recommend pickin' that stuff up. It's only $7.99 via
iTunes!!! What?!
Bottom line, Bjork covers done right. Okay Okay without further adieu, we got some mp3s for you! Listen and then go buy that album! More
here and
here. Anyone else think this stuff rocks?

This over year old album is an interesting collection of Radiohead songs covered by popular Japanese pop and rock bands. Some are redone with more rock, some are more subtle and some replace electronics with drums/pianos. It's a pretty neat album. I think you can get it
here. We have some of the tracks for you to enjoy/wonder about. I particularly like the Just cover by L-LuLu.
Tracklist:
1. Black Star / TSUBAKI
2. Just / I-lulu 3. Fake Plastic Trees / THE LOCAL ART
4. Let Down / sacra
5. Everything In Its Right Place / LITE
6. Karma Police / audio active
7. IDIOTEQUE / The Thai Sato
8. Creep / LUNKHEAD
9. HIGH AND DRY / sonic line 10. No Surprises / TRICERATOPS 11. The National Anthem / SUGIURUMN

Following the success of the Radio 1's Vol. 1 CDs, we finally have the Vol. 2 with even more awesome live covers. I was super excited about this CD because of the line-up including Corinne Bailey Rae, Damien Rice, Coldplay, and KT Tunstall. These are all live covers, many with an acoustic feel and often times they get jazzy- are real good twist to these pop songs.
A lot of comps and various artists CDs usually don't have 40 songs! This 2-CD collection is a great party background, and it's cheesy but people will definitely be asking where you got it. Way to be in the music-know! It's a great listen all the way through. Radio 1's Live Lounge Vol. 2 was released on the 22nd and it's quickly on it's way up to a top seller. Get yours
here. We Got some tracks for you and the playlist. Enjoy!

When I was in high school, I loved
covers, specially Punk covers. Everyone makes posts about covers and rightfully so, they are awesome. This week I asked bunches of people to tell me what their favorite cover songs are. I got a lot of interesting feedback. Now just because it is a cover doesn't mean it is great, infact lots of covers suck!
Hopefully you won't
hear those here. I know there are lots of awesome ones and I'm sure you are gunna email me asking me why I didn't include this song and that band, lo siento
seriousness. But hopefully you can extend your musical ear love for a new one!
(Note: covers are generally a song sung by another person who didn't originally write/sing/released it, otherwise it's more than likely a remix)This first one was suggested my
Surrah. It's a old punk cover. I've had this song since I was a sophomore in high school.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow Build Me Up ButtercupEver since we heard Ms. Emma cover this song, couldn't get it out of our heads.

Above: Duk Bok Ki w/ Hope friends! Two really silly people; Aldo, Nicole. Monday Night boys eating. Biking to downtown; one of the stops. I just have to point out one piece in the news: Michael Jordan got fined for mentioning freshmen Kevin Durant. 15G's from Mike please!
Okay I got a lot of music to be posting, but it's seriously too much, so we will split it up. Here are twelve songs for a mid-week mix. The styles are really mixed up!
Two mixes of "Ice Cream" from New Young Pony Club. It's that song on the Intel commercial, I think thats the only reason why I like this song!
Watch these video(s) of Seu Jorge and Ana Carolina...just awesome.
Last but not least, Paul, Aldo, and me made this super stupid song on Garage band. It's dumb but you can give it a listen!
JaldopaulHave a great week!
