the best stitches, ever --- SUTURES. the toy
Saturday, November 22, 2008
Sutures are handmade toys made in Austin, Texas by two hip young ladies who launched a company known as montygummo. These clever name tagged creations are sure to put big smiles on your faces! I know that we've got a few toy aficionados right here at bbqchickenrobot, so I figured this would be the perfect place to espouse the magnificence of the sutures collection. I asked Lauren Stone, founder and co-creator of the company some pertinent questions. Right in time for the holiday season, folks...
When did you first come up with the concept?
I bought a sock monkey kit and was really bad at sewing and following directions so it came out looking like Francois with a really big head an an inside out mouth. (pictured above)
What made you decide to make your own toys?
Initially I wasn't making them for anybody. My best friend Alicia saw a few I had made and wanted to start making some too
How many sutures do you guys have ready for sale currently?
I have about 20 that I don't want to sell because I like them
What makes sutures more unique than other toys on the market?
They are seriously handmade and there are no two that look the same
How are your sewing skills now compared to when you made the sock monkey?
Equally awful -- I still can't sew
How much does your average toy run?
We only sell them for $10
Why are these toys intended for adults only?
Because their eyeballs might fall off and your cat or kid might choke on them
