The Armory are an art rock trio hailing from Lawrence, Kansas. The lineup consists of Tyler Snell (bass, vox), Thadd Lewis (gtr, vox), and Pat Egger (drums). This band seemingly channels all of my favorite bands without ever sounding derivative or as if they are trying too hard. Initially the band started as a two piece in a dorm at the University of Kansas before having morphed into a power rock trio after recruiting drummer extraordinaire Pat Egger in a painting class. All three lads have been so overly critical of their own recordings that they incubated extra demos and tunes for previous releases on their personal hard drives for three years, refusing to dole them out to their own friends until recently. The band finally decided it was time to hatch their eggs and share the supertoys they created less than two weeks ago by making all previous releases available for free download on their myspace page, in addition to a brand spankin' new release consisting of the aforementioned "extra" demos and outtakes. Drummer Pat Egger recently relocated from Kansas to further his education at the prestigious Rhode Islands School of Design, so at the current moment the band is on hiatus. I have come to understand that the group will be releasing a new disc of all new material recorded in large part by Steve Squire (White Flight, Suzannah Johannes) sometime this December. So expect me to be blabbing about that around then. Without further ado, packed with an eye popping PDF of liner artwork, I Can Complain The Best Out Of All Of Us: Demos & Outtakes.
