Albert Hammond Jr. presents new album "Como Te Llama?"

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

When I was in highschool, The Strokes came out with their first album "Is This It?" and I loved it. Perusing the liner notes, I poured over lyrics and the nonchalant coolness of those band member pictures. And yet, years ago as it was, I still remember the huge fro Albert Hammond Jr. was sporting (not to mention Fabrizio Moretti).

Years pass and now looks like the kid (well, er, man) has his own thing going on along to still being with The Strokes, under his own name, Albert Hammond Jr. Hate to say it, but a lot of his stuff is a little reminiscent of The Strokes sound, but that's a sound that I've come to love. And what I mean is a steady driving beat, and a prominent electric guitar melody line - if you listen to "In Transit" you'll know what I mean. Still though, the man has created a sound that still differs slightly from the aforementioned band, it's definitely more tone-downed and palatable and I like it like that.

Check out the myspace here.

And here's a song for you, off his forthcoming, new album "Como te llama?" which arrives July 8th.

GFC

It's got a pretty guitar hook.
