Stacey Kent's Breakfast On The Morning Tram!
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
As mentioned before, Jazz is continuing to thrive, and I am perfectly confident in Stacey Kent. Kent has over a decade worth contribution to jazz with 6 albums, several awards won and special arrangements with well-known artists. She does it even better 7th time around now with heavy hitters Blue Note Records who are responsible for releases of some of the greatest Jazz musicians since the 50s including Lady Ella, Duke Ellington and Sarah Vaughn. Her new album Breakfast On The Morning Tram is one of the best albums in jazz I've ever listened to. Extremely classy throughout with a quiet lounge twist, a little bit of that romantic attitude you get from noteworthy vocalists, and a well painted cool scene on several tracks. Husband Jim Tomlinson contributes writing and his well-crafted sax on several tracks. The amazing combination of the band, writers, and producers have really done it.
I highly recommend picking this album up which just came out last week! Get it here. Those french songs are amazing as well as a rendition of What A Wonderful World. And of course we have 3 songs from the new album, more than enough reasons to get it.
Stacey is touring, pretty much all the time, and currently she's mapped out over Europe but late November she'll be in NY. Be sure to get a ticket at the Birdland.
